About us
sisi.news is a news site in Arabic and English. We report on Egypt, the wider region and the world, and our tagline, “Egypt in Focus”, says what we try to do.
Arabic is our primary language. Stories are published language by language, so a story may appear in one language before the other, and some will appear in only one.
What we cover
The site has six sections:
- Egypt
- Politics
- Business
- Regional affairs
- World
- Culture
We aim to explain as well as report: what happened, why it matters and what is still not known.
We write for readers in Egypt and for anyone abroad who wants to follow the country in Arabic or in English. We aim for clear, direct writing, with enough background that a reader new to a subject can follow it.
How the newsroom works
Journalists draft stories. Editors review them and decide whether and when to publish. No story goes live without an editor’s approval.
Each language version is reviewed and published on its own. Stories without a named author are credited to the sisi.news Desk, and an editor answers for them like any other story.
The rules we work by are set out in our Editorial standards and Corrections policy pages.
What you can expect from us
- Accurate reporting, checked before it is published.
- Stories that say what we know and what we do not yet know.
- News kept clearly apart from analysis and opinion.
- Sources named whenever we can, and protected when we must.
- Mistakes acknowledged and corrected in the open.
- Plain language, in both languages.
New, and open about it
sisi.news is a new site. The first pieces on it are background explainers, not breaking news, and they report no current events. They are credited to the sisi.news Desk. They were drafted with the help of AI tools and checked against published sources. Our Editorial standards page explains how we use automated tools.
If you find a mistake in one of them, please tell us. We correct errors as set out in our Corrections policy.
Who is behind the site
Readers have a right to know who owns a news outlet. sisi.news is published and operated by Silka Group (silka-group.com). We will not claim anything about our ownership or funding that we cannot show.
What the site does and does not do
- All stories are free to read.
- No advertising.
- No reader accounts and no comments.
- No analytics or tracking services. We count how often each story is read on our own server.
- A newsletter sign-up that stores your email address, your language and the dates you signed up and unsubscribed, and nothing else about you.
Our Privacy policy explains exactly what we keep.
